The North Central Iowa Research Association, in partnership with Iowa State University, will host its annual meeting on Thursday, March 27, at the Northern Research Farm in Kanawha.
The event is open to farmers, members, and ag professionals, offering insights into research, technology, and farm management strategies.
The meeting will feature expert presentations. Wes Everman, assistant professor and extension weed scientist, will discuss waterhemp management and herbicide strategies.
Kevin Butt, professor of agriculture at Ellsworth Community College, will review drone regulations and applications in farming. A panel discussion with Everman, Butt, farmer Nate Huntley, and AgStrike owner Nathan Stein will explore practical drone uses.
In addition, Matt Schnabel, research farm superintendent, and Kendall Lamkey, associate dean at ISU’s College of Agriculture, will provide an update on Iowa State University’s research farms.
Greg Guenther, president of the North Central Iowa Research Association, will discuss the capital campaign, new facility plans, and conduct the annual meeting.
Membership for the association costs $25 for three years, payable at the event or by mail. Registration and refreshments begin at 8:30 a.m., with the meeting starting at 9 a.m. and concluding by 12:30 p.m. A board meeting will follow, and lunch will be provided.
The event is free, but attendees are encouraged to pre-register by March 20 by calling 641-762-3247 to ensure adequate food. Certified Crop Advisers can earn CEU credits for attending.
