Michelle Sackville Named Regional Director for ISU Extension

By Andi Anderson

Iowa State University Extension and Outreach has announced that Michelle Sackville has accepted the position of regional director serving Dallas County. She will officially begin her new role on March 9.

As regional director, Sackville will provide administrative guidance to the county extension office staff and offer leadership support to the Dallas County Extension Council.

Sackville brings strong management and university-level administrative experience to the position. She is currently a manager in the Accounts Receivable Office at Iowa State University, where she leads a team responsible for financial resolution, compliance, and customer service.

Her work has centered on ensuring accurate financial processes and maintaining high professional standards.

She also previously served as a regional director with ISU Extension and Outreach, where she led operations in Pocahontas, Humboldt, Webster, and Hamilton counties. In that role, she supervised more than 20 staff members and managed over $1.5 million in public funds.

She ensured compliance with extension financial policies and Iowa Code and worked closely with county extension councils on governance, open meetings law, and fiscal responsibility.

Sackville’s earlier extension experience includes serving as the director for Franklin County. She holds a bachelor’s degree from Iowa State University and a master’s degree from the University of Iowa, strengthening her educational background in public service and administration.

Andrea Welchans, assistant vice president for ISU Extension and Outreach, expressed strong support for Sackville’s return. “We congratulate Michelle and welcome her back to Iowa State University Extension and Outreach,” said Welchans. “Her experience sets her up for success as the regional director for Dallas County.”

ISU Extension and Outreach operates as part of the federal Cooperative Extension Service, a nationwide network of more than 100 land-grant institutions partnered with the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

In Iowa, every county has its own elected extension council, which plays a key role in determining how educational programs are implemented at the local level. Sackville’s leadership will help Dallas County continue delivering strong community-based programs and educational opportunities.
