As temperatures soar, it becomes vital to prioritize the well-being of dairy cows and calves during hot summer months. Iowa State University Extension and Outreach is offering a valuable opportunity to gain insights into this topic through an upcoming dairy webinar.
Scheduled for July 19 from noon to 1 p.m. CDT, the webinar will focus on managing heat stress in dairy cows and calves. Led by Jennifer Van Os, an expert in animal welfare from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, the session aims to enhance understanding of animal welfare perspectives and effective heat abatement strategies.
Participants will learn how to recognize signs of heat stress and implement best practices in management and housing. Van Os will also share the latest research findings on keeping lactating cows and pre-weaned calves cool and comfortable.
The webinar is free to attend, but pre-registration is required at least one hour before the event. To register, visit the Iowa State University Extension and Outreach website.
