Laura Greiner is the new director of the Iowa Pork Industry Center at Iowa State University. She's excited to lead the center's efforts in improving animal agriculture in the state.
Before Laura, Dr. Chris Rademacher was the interim director for a year. Now, he'll be the associate director, supporting Laura in her new role.
Iowa State's associate dean, Jay Harmon, welcomed Laura, saying she'll be a great leader for the center. He believes her experience and knowledge will benefit pork producers not just in Iowa, but also beyond the state.
Laura has been at Iowa State since 2018, where she teaches animal science. She also runs the Greiner Laboratory, which does research on how to make pig farming better.
As the director, Laura wants to focus on modern ways to raise pigs. She believes it's essential to use new technology, care for the animals, and make farming more sustainable.
Laura is thrilled about her new position and hopes to bring new programs to help pork producers. She plans to offer training for caregivers and improve how farms handle their feed. She also wants to keep farmers updated through webinars and training sessions.
The Iowa Pork Industry Center, part of Iowa State University, is a place where people from different fields work together to help pig farmers. They provide education and information to support farmers and make the pork industry in Iowa even better.
