By Andi Anderson

The Iowa State University Extension and Outreach dairy team will resume its dairy goat webinar series this fall, offering valuable insights for dairy goat producers and industry professionals.

These educational webinars aim to address key issues in dairy goat production, a growing sector in Iowa.

Jenn Bentley, dairy field specialist with ISU Extension, emphasized the importance of this initiative. “We are pleased to continue this educational opportunity with expert speakers who will provide producers and industry providers with practical, take-home information,” Bentley said.

The 2025 webinar sessions will cover essential topics in dairy goat health, reproduction, welfare, and milk quality. The series schedule includes:

  • Sept. 17: Understanding Udder Health and Managing Mastitis with Elizabeth Eckelkamp, University of Tennessee
  • Oct. 14: Animal Welfare for Dairy Goat Producers with Michelle Buckley, Texas Tech University
  • Nov. 18: Managing Reproduction to Maximize Production with Rosie Busch, University of California Davis
  • Dec. 17: Dairy Goat Milk Quality with a Southeastern U.S. Focus with Rileigh Powers, University of Tennessee

Each session will run from 12 to 1:15 p.m. Central time. There is no cost to attend, but registration is required. Participants only need to register once to join any or all sessions.

To register, interested individuals can sign up online or contact Jenn Bentley at 563-382-2949 or via email at jbentley@iastate.edu or dairygoatextension@iastate.edu. Registered attendees will receive webinar access details and future event updates.

The webinar series is supported by the USDA’s National Institute of Food and Agriculture under the Sustainable Agricultural Systems project. Iowa State University’s continued efforts ensure practical support for the dairy goat industry in Iowa and beyond.
