The 2024 Iowa Forage and Grassland Council's annual conference is gearing up to be an enlightening day of learning and collaboration. Scheduled for February 6 at Ames' Reiman Gardens near Jack Trice Stadium, this event offers a platform to delve into progressive forage management practices.
Starting at 9:30 a.m. with registration, the conference officially kicks off at 10 a.m. with warm greetings and engaging sessions scheduled throughout the morning. Discussions range from virtual fencing to corn residue grazing, offering valuable insights from esteemed speakers.
Meghan Filbert from No Fence presents "A Tool for the Grazing Revolution: Virtual Fencing," while Dr. Mary Drewnoski from the University of Nebraska—Lincoln shares insights on "Corn Residue Grazing: Current Recommendations and Adjustments Based on New Data." Iowa State University's Dr. Shelby Gruss explores "Cultivating Resilience: Exploring Traits and Tactics with Warm-Season Annual Forage," and Jeff Matthias, representing Iowa NRCS, discusses "Livestock Water Improvement Ideas from the Drought."
Attendees can participate in a door prize drawing, adding a touch of excitement to the day's events.
