Iowa Agriculture Literacy Foundation (IALF) has secured a $20,000 grant from Bayer Fund, the charitable arm of Bayer in the U.S. The grant will support professional development workshops for STEM teachers, helping them enhance their understanding of agriculture's connections to science, technology, engineering, and math.
The workshops, held both online and in a hybrid format, will equip Iowa teachers with valuable knowledge about agriculture, agricultural careers, and innovation. By attending these workshops, educators will discover how to seamlessly incorporate agriculture-related topics into their existing classroom lessons, enabling students to see the relevance of agriculture in their daily lives.
These dynamic, two-day workshops are designed to assist teachers in implementing Iowa Core Standards effectively. Participants will have the opportunity to explore local agribusinesses, engage in discussions about classroom standards, and learn practical strategies. They will leave the workshops with ready-to-use instructional materials, including lesson plans and activities that can be easily incorporated into their teaching practice.
The workshops will take place across Iowa from June to August. For more information and to register, please visit: Summer Teacher Professional Development Workshops
Al Mitchell, President of Bayer Fund, expressed the organization's commitment to supporting impactful initiatives within local communities. By investing in the IALF Teacher Professional Development Workshops, Bayer Fund aims to inspire students and cultivate their interest in STEM careers.
Bayer Fund provided over $13.4 million to charitable organizations in 2022, addressing essential needs in areas such as food, nutrition, STEM education, and health & wellness. Since 2017, nonprofit organizations across the U.S. have received close to $90 million in support from Bayer Fund.
Through the Bayer Fund grant, Iowa teachers will have the tools and knowledge to integrate agriculture into STEM education, creating an engaging learning experience that sparks enthusiasm and prepares students for a promising future.
