The Iowa State Fair is bringing back its popular Farmers Market and introducing a brand-new Kids Makers Market for the 2025 fair season. These events offer a unique opportunity for Iowans to showcase their homegrown and handmade goods directly to fairgoers.
Set in The Garden area, east of the Animal Learning Center, the Farmers Market will run daily from August 7 to 16, between 4 p.m. and 7 p.m.
Vendors can sell a wide range of items, including fresh produce, handmade soaps, cut flowers, jerky, and other local goods. Applications to participate as a vendor are now open, and entries must be submitted by July 1, 2025, at www.iowastatefair.org.
A new addition this year is the Kids Makers Market, scheduled for Sunday, August 17, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. This market is open to children aged 7 to 17, giving them a platform to display and sell their homemade creations. Young participants will compete for banners, and visitors can shop while supporting Iowa’s youngest entrepreneurs.
Both events are designed to highlight Iowa’s strong agricultural roots and creative spirit. Whether you’re looking to stock up on local produce, find unique gifts, or support the next generation of makers, these markets are a must-visit during your time at the Fair.
By creating space for both seasoned farmers and young crafters, the Iowa State Fair continues to celebrate and support local talent and traditions. Be sure to stop by and experience the best of Iowa’s farm and artisan communities in one vibrant setting.
