Iowa Soybean Association Elects New Leadership


Iowa soybean farmers have elected a new leadership team for the Iowa Soybean Association (ISA). Suzanne Shirbroun of Farmersburg was elected president, Brent Swart of Spencer was elected president-elect, Jeff Frank of Lake View was elected treasurer, Tom Adam of Harper was elected secretary, and Brent Renner of Klemme was elected at-large director.

Shirbroun is a sixth-generation farmer who has been involved in agriculture her entire life. She and her husband Joe manage a diversified row crop and seed business in Clayton County. She is a long-time advocate for the soybean checkoff and agriculture.

Swart is a soybean and corn farmer from Spencer. He is a past president of the Iowa Soybean Association and the Iowa Corn Growers Association. He is also a member of the American Soybean Association and the National Corn Growers Association.

Frank is a soybean and corn farmer from Lake View. He is a past president of the Northwest Iowa Soybean Association. He is also a member of the Iowa Soybean Association and the American Soybean Association.

Adam is a soybean and corn farmer from Harper. He is a past president of the Keokuk County Soybean Association. He is also a member of the Iowa Soybean Association and the American Soybean Association.

Renner is a soybean and corn farmer from Klemme. He is a past president of the Emmet County Soybean Association. He is also a member of the Iowa Soybean Association and the American Soybean Association.

The newly elected directors will join the ISA board in September and will

serve three-year terms. They are:

• Paul Kassel, Spencer (District 1)

• Sam Showalter, Hampton (District 2)

• Corey Goodhue, Carlise (District 5)

• Aimee Bissell, Bedford (At-Large)

• Sharon Chism, Huxley (At-Large)

The ISA board also re-elected Steph Essick of Dickens, Morey Hill of Madrid, and Dave Walton of Wilton to the American Soybean Association (ASA) board. Immediate past president Randy Miller of Lacona and Tom Adam of Keokuk County will join the ASA board for first terms beginning in December.

The ISA is a farmer-led organization that represents the interests of Iowa soybean farmers. The association works to promote the production, marketing, and use of soybeans in Iowa and across the globe. The new leadership team is committed to representing the interests of Iowa soybean farmers and working to advance the soybean industry.
