Iowa Hay Stocks Up 67 Percent from 2021



All hay stored on Iowa farms as of May 1, 2022, was estimated at 720,000 tons, up 67 percent from May 1, 2021, according to the latest USDA, National Agricultural Statistics Service - Crop Production report.

Disappearance from December 1, 2021, through May 1, 2022, totaled 2.40 million tons, compared with 2.00 million tons for the same period in 2021.

All hay stored on United States farms as of May 1, 2022, totaled 16.8 million tons, down 7 percent from May 1, 2021. Disappearance from December 1, 2021 - May 1, 2022, totaled 62.2 million tons, down 6 percent from the same period a year.
