Iowa Farm Bureau Offers $2,500 Renewable Agricultural Scholarship

By Andi Anderson

High school students eyeing agricultural studies post-graduation in 2024 have a chance at Iowa Farm Bureau Federation's $2,500 renewable scholarship. This scholarship, awarded to 27 students, pledges support for four years, totaling up to $10,000.

Brent Johnson, President of Iowa Farm Bureau, emphasizes the scholarship's role in nurturing future agricultural leaders. He stresses the importance of equipping the upcoming generation with a deep understanding of farming's heritage and its role in a global food system.

To qualify, applicants need an Iowa Farm Bureau membership in good standing, a minimum GPA of 2.5, and acceptance into an accredited higher education institution, including community colleges and technical schools.

The application deadline is January 31, 2024, and students can apply online at iowafarmbureau.com/scholarships. Alongside general requirements, an essay highlighting extracurricular activities, community service, dedication to agriculture, and two character reference letters are key components of the application.

Successful applications will be considered for county-level scholarships and the state scholarship. Each county Farm Bureau will select one student for the $2,500 state award. Three students from each of Iowa Farm Bureau’s nine districts will be chosen as scholarship recipients from this pool.

Moreover, the program includes the Daniel Johnson Memorial Scholarship and the Edward W. & Isabelle M. Klodt Memorial Scholarship, each offering eligible students $500.

For detailed information on eligibility, application procedures, and queries, visit iowafarmbureau.com/scholarships or contact the Iowa Farm Bureau Community Resources Office at 515-225-5461.
