Iowa Farm Bureau Awards $264K in Student Scholarships

By Andi Anderson

The Iowa Farm Bureau Federation (IFBF) has awarded a total of $263,950 in scholarships to 106 high school seniors and college students pursuing education in agriculture-related fields.

This includes 27 first-time recipients and 76 students who renewed their scholarships for the 2025 academic year.

These scholarships, valued up to $10,000 over four years, can be used at any accredited college, university, technical school, or community college in the country. Selection criteria include Farm Bureau membership, academic excellence, financial need, leadership experience, and a demonstrated passion for rural Iowa and agriculture.

Isaac Sylvester, from Ottumwa, was awarded the Edward W. and Isabelle M. Klodt Scholarship, a one-time $500 award for Wapello County students.

Ellie Hartman of Dyersville and Cale Jensen of Plainfield received the Robert H. Rewoldt Scholarship, a $3,000 scholarship renewable for two years, awarded to students in northeast Iowa.

Ronnette Vondrak, IFBF Community Resources Manager, emphasized the significance of these scholarships: “These scholarships are one way we support students who are passionate about making a difference—whether it’s through farming, research, ag business, community service, leadership or upcoming innovations.”

The scholarships are designed to strengthen Iowa’s rural communities by equipping students with the education and training needed to succeed in agriculture, an industry that supports one in five jobs in the state.

This year’s scholarship recipients represent communities across Iowa, from Aplington to Winthrop, with students attending institutions like Iowa State University, University of Iowa, South Dakota State University, and many more.

By investing in students, the Iowa Farm Bureau is fostering the next generation of leaders committed to innovation, sustainability, and growth in agriculture and rural development.
