Empowering women in agriculture takes center stage at this year's Women in Ag Conference in Washington, Iowa, on March 23. With the theme 'Starting the Conversation,' the conference aims to equip women of all ages with confidence in discussing tough topics such as farm succession, mental health, and more.
Hosted by the Iowa State University Extension and Outreach Washington County office and the Washington County Women in Agriculture Advisory Board, the conference welcomes women from all counties. The event boasts an impressive lineup of speakers, including Ron Rabou, Liz Hulsizer, Rena Striegel, and Elaine Turner.
The day kicks off with Rabou's 'Mind Shift' session, challenging attendees to view things differently without compromising core beliefs. Hulsizer follows, emphasizing the 'Importance of Having Open Communication' and drawing from personal experiences to discuss mental health in farming.
After lunch, Striegel presents 'Tackle the Tough Stuff: Strategies for Communication about Your Succession Plan.' Attendees will gain confidence in communicating their succession plan goals effectively. The conference concludes with Turner, sharing insights on ag taxation and maximizing tax benefits in agriculture.
Registration begins at 8:30 a.m., with the conference starting at 9 a.m. and concluding at 2:15 p.m. The registration fee is $25 ($15 for students), including a light breakfast and lunch. Early registration deadline is March 16, with late registration accepted based on availability.
