Diesel Up 9 Cents, while Natural Gas Down Over a Buck



Retail diesel prices in Iowa were up 9 cents this week with a statewide average of $5.14.

The price of global crude oil fell this week on the West Texas Intermediate (WTI) by $3.34 per barrel over last week, currently priced at $84.13.

Brent crude oil fell $1.29 and currently priced at $91.29.

One year ago, WTI crude sold for $82.96 and Brent crude was at $85.02.

As of Wednesday, the price of regular unleaded gasoline averaged $3.63 across Iowa according to AAA. Prices fell 8 cents from last week's price and $.51 higher than one year ago. The national average on Wednesday was $3.85 down 7 cents from last week's price.

Retail diesel prices in Iowa were up 9 cents this week with a statewide average of $5.14. One year ago, diesel prices averaged $3.40 in Iowa. The current Iowa diesel price is 18 cents less than the national average of $5.32.

Wholesale ethanol held steady and is currently priced at $2.16.

The current Des Moines Terminal/Rack Prices are $2.39 for U87-E10, $3.05 for Unleaded 87 (clear), $4.53 for ULSD#2, $4.87 for ULSD#1, and $2.61 per gallon for E-70 prices.

Propane prices were up 1 cent with a statewide average of $1.94 per gallon.

Home heating oil prices rose 13 cents, with a statewide average of $4.71 per gallon.

Natural gas prices fell $1.05 at the Henry Hub reporting site and are currently priced at $5.53/MMbtu.
