Crop producers can learn more about managing production costs and get an update on the year ahead during a meeting on Feb. 24 at the McNay Memorial Research and Demonstration Farm near Chariton.
Clarabell Probasco, field agronomist with Iowa State University Extension and Outreach, and Charles Brown, farm management specialist, will present “Managing Crop Production Costs and Price Outlook” from noon to 2 p.m., with doors opening at 11:30 a.m.
Topics will include interpreting soil tests, the Iowa Nitrogen Rate Calculator, pesticide updates, soybean gall midge, expected costs of production and market outlooks.
“The past year saw favorable commodity prices for crop producers and many are sitting on some valuable commodities,” said Probasco. “We want to help farmers consider the future and how to manage the increase in input prices and market risk.”
A free lunch will be provided courtesy of the local county Farm Bureau. Pre-registration is encouraged and can be done by completing a brief form online: iastate.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_bPM2EA982eXRuZM
