Ag Lender Seminars on Iowa farm futures

Ag Lender Seminars on Iowa farm futures

By Andi Anderson

Agricultural lenders and consultants in Iowa will have the opportunity to gain valuable insights during the upcoming Ag Lender Seminars held in northeast and northwest Iowa.

These seminars, designed to offer research-based information, will provide lenders with the necessary tools to assist their clients in navigating today’s challenging agricultural market environment.

The Tri-State Agricultural Lenders Seminar will take place on Tuesday, October 29, at the Best Western Plus Hotel in Dubuque, Iowa, starting with registration at 9:45 a.m. and concluding by 3:15 p.m.

The following day, on October 30, the Siouxland Agricultural Lenders Seminar will be held from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Dordt Stewardship Center in Sioux Center.

These seminars are tailored to meet the needs of agricultural lenders, consultants, and farm financial advisers, providing them with up-to-date information to help manage their portfolios.

With the agricultural industry facing low profits and market variability, these seminars are particularly relevant for those working with dairy producers. Attendees will receive insights into critical topics such as farm succession planning, right to repair legislation, the used machinery market, and market outlooks for livestock, grains, and dairy production.

Larry Tranel, a dairy specialist with Iowa State University Extension and Outreach, emphasized the importance of understanding price risk management in today’s ag markets.

He noted that these seminars provide valuable resources to help lenders and financial advisers guide farmers in making informed decisions.

Fred Hall, a dairy specialist in northwest Iowa, pointed out that with a significant portion of U.S. farmers over the age of 65, succession planning is becoming increasingly essential. Hall believes that understanding the current market trends and helping clients manage risks is crucial for farm management success.

These seminars offer agricultural lenders an important opportunity to enhance their understanding of the issues impacting their clients and prepare for the challenges ahead.
