Iowans now have a chance to win exciting meat-related prizes through the Sizzlin’ Summer Giveaway, launched by the Iowa Farm Bureau in partnership with Fareway Meat and Grocery. This contest aims to celebrate the efforts of farmers and engage consumers in learning about food production and sustainability.
Participants can win a $200 Fareway meat gift card. One winner will be selected from each of Fareway’s 116 Iowa locations. Additionally, one lucky grand prize winner will receive a Pit Boss Ultimate Lift-Off Griddle, a $500 meat bundle, a Grizzly Drifter 20 soft-sided cooler, and a barbeque swag bag.
To enter, visit www.iowafarmbureau.com/SizzlinSummer and answer five multiple-choice questions about how farmers provide nutrient-rich meat, dairy, and eggs, while caring for animals and the environment. Each email address gets one entry. The contest closes on June 22.
“Iowans take pride in providing their neighbors with high-quality meats that bring families together,” said IFBF President Brent Johnson. “We know consumers want to know more about how their food is grown and raised, and this contest is a fun way to engage them while also highlighting the efforts of Iowa farmers who prioritize animal care and sustainability.”
Animal-based proteins are vital for health. They are rich in vitamin B12, which supports brain development and the nervous system, and zinc, which strengthens the immune system.
Farmers are also adopting new technologies to reduce their environmental impact. Between 1990 and 2022, greenhouse gas emissions per meal from meat production dropped by 25%.
“Fareway has always believed that high-quality, nutritious protein is made possible through the dedication and integrity of our farmers,” said Fareway VP of Market Operations, Jeff Cook. “This contest is our way of celebrating the incredible men and women who make it happen—strengthening communities, preserving traditions, and ensuring a strong food system. Whether it's a backyard barbecue or a family dinner, Fareway is honored to be part of those special moments where great food brings people together.”
This summer, the contest offers a great way to enjoy meat and support the people behind it.
