Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds, Secretary of Agriculture Mike Naig, and Department of Natural Resources Director Kayla Lyon are encouraging Iowans to nominate individuals or families for the prestigious 2024 Iowa Farm Environmental Leader Award.
Farmers and landowners in Iowa implementing proven practices to enhance water quality and employing conservation methods to protect natural resources are eligible for this commendable award. Nominees should actively serve as leaders within the Iowa agriculture community.
Nominations are open until May 6, providing an opportunity to recognize those making a significant impact on sustainable farming practices. The recipients of this esteemed award will be honored during a ceremony on August 14 at the Iowa State Fair. Iowa leaders, including Governor Reynolds, Lt. Governor Adam Gregg, Secretary Naig, and Director Lyon, will personally present each awardee with an Iowa Farm Environmental Leader Award sign and certificate.
To participate, visit the Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship’s website to find nomination forms. An appointed committee, representing conservation and agricultural groups, will meticulously review the nominations and select the well-deserving winners.
Since its establishment in 2012, the Iowa Farm Environmental Leader Award has recognized 777 farm families for their outstanding contributions to sustainable and environmentally friendly practices. It is a testament to the collective commitment of the Iowa agriculture community towards fostering a greener and more sustainable future.
Take the opportunity to nominate those leading the way in environmentally conscious farming practices, and be a part of recognizing excellence in Iowa agriculture.
