ISU extension offers next generation farmer classes

ISU extension offers next generation farmer classes

By Andi Anderson

The average age of farmers in Iowa stands at 57.1 years, revealing an aging demographic within the agricultural community. To support the next generation of farmers and help them prepare for the future, the Humboldt County Iowa State Extension and Outreach is organizing a series of six Next Generation Farmer meetings.

These meetings will take place on Tuesday evenings, commencing on November 7th and continuing until March 12th. The sessions will cover a range of crucial topics, including:

  • Farm succession planning
  • Financial management
  • Crop production
  • Marketing
  • Risk management
  • Effective use of social media

For a comprehensive learning experience, the registration fee is set at $55 for all six sessions, which also includes lunch. Payment can be conveniently made in cash or by check on the evening of each meeting.

The meetings will be conducted in the Extension meeting room located at Humboldt County Extension, 727 Sumner Ave.

For additional information or inquiries, please contact Dorothy Goodell at 712-332-2201.
