A new educational event, “Drone Spraying Essentials: From Basics to Application,” will be hosted by the Iowa State University Digital Ag Innovation Lab in collaboration with Terraplex on Sept. 4, 2025.
The workshop will run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Digital Ag Innovation Lab in Ames, Iowa. The event aims to provide in-depth insights into the rapidly growing field of drone spraying in agriculture.
This workshop is designed for a broad range of attendees, including farmers, licensed applicators, agricultural professionals, and ag-tech startups.
Doug Houser, a digital agriculture extension specialist with ISU Extension and Outreach, explained the importance of the event, noting that drone spraying technology is rapidly transforming farm practices.
The day will address both basic and advanced topics related to agricultural drone spraying, and Houser emphasized the opportunity to connect with experts and get questions answered. The session will cover topics such as:
- How drone spraying is changing agricultural practices
- Certification and licensing requirements for drone applicators
- Strategies for safe and effective drone operation
- Legal and regulatory considerations
- Expert advice from industry, policy, and technology leaders
The cost to attend is $225, which includes lunch and educational materials. Online pre-registration is required by Aug. 15, 2025, and space is limited to 100 participants.
The event will take place at the Digital Ag Innovation Lab, located at 3800 University Blvd., Ames, Iowa. This workshop presents an excellent opportunity for agricultural professionals to gain crucial knowledge and stay ahead of the curve in drone technology.
