Iowa dairy hosts workshop and tailgate

By Andi Anderson

The Iowa dairy industry is gearing up for a doubleheader event on November 1-2, featuring a professional development workshop and a networking tailgate.

Co-hosted by the Iowa State University Extension and Outreach Dairy Team and the Dairy Science Club at Iowa State University, this event aims to bring together dairy professionals, students, and industry experts for two days of learning and networking.

The first part of the event, “Professional Development for Iowa Dairy Industry Consultants,” will take place on November 1 at the Iowa Veterinary Medical Association headquarters in Ankeny.

Starting at 1:30 p.m., the workshop will provide hands-on learning opportunities with presentations from industry experts covering the latest topics in dairy management.

The session is designed to equip dairy consultants with advanced skills and knowledge to better serve Iowa’s dairy industry. Following the workshop, attendees can enjoy a social hour sponsored by Elanco Animal Health, providing a relaxed setting for informal networking and discussion.

On November 2, the action shifts to Jack Trice Stadium in Ames for the Iowa Dairy Industry Tailgate, a casual gathering that offers a fun atmosphere for students, faculty, industry professionals, farmers, and alumni.

The tailgate will be held before the Iowa State Cyclones football game, creating the perfect opportunity for attendees to connect and network. With food, refreshments, and a vibrant atmosphere, the tailgate promises a great time for all participants.

In addition, the Iowa State Dairy Science Club will host its annual alumni reunion during the tailgate, allowing former students to reconnect and celebrate their shared passion for the dairy industry.

This portion of the event is sponsored by the Iowa State Dairy Association, emphasizing the strong community ties within Iowa’s dairy sector.

The Iowa Dairy Industry Doubleheader not only provides valuable learning opportunities but also fosters a sense of community among those dedicated to advancing the dairy industry.

Whether attending for professional development or social engagement, participants will leave inspired and better connected to their peers in the industry.
