At the recent Association of Public and Land-grant Universities (APLU) annual meeting, two esteemed faculty members from Texas A&M College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, Jennifer Gillett-Kaufman and Sushil Paudyal, were recognized with national teaching awards for their educational commitment and excellence.
Jennifer Gillett-Kaufman, an instructional associate professor in the Department of Entomology, and Sushil Paudyal, an assistant professor of dairy science, were celebrated for enhancing student engagement and academic development.
Gillett-Kaufman, known for incorporating interactive learning methods in her courses, including “Insects in Human Society,” engages up to 300 students each semester with her innovative teaching style.
Gillett-Kaufman expressed her gratitude, stating, “It is more than just an award for me; it is an award for everyone who has mentored and supported me on this journey.” Her efforts in developing a global perspective in agricultural education are highlighted by her initiative to create a virtual exchange internship with Zamorano University in Honduras.
Sushil Paudyal has been instrumental in revamping the dairy science courses since joining Texas A&M in 2019, focusing on connecting students with industry leaders to enhance their educational experiences. His work extends beyond the classroom through leadership in high-impact learning activities, such as dairy challenge events and the academic quadrathlon team.
These awards underscore the profound impact of dedicated faculty who go beyond traditional teaching methods to prepare students for successful careers in agriculture and related fields.
