The National Association of County Agricultural Agents (NACAA) honored top achievers in agriculture at its annual conference in Des Moines, Iowa. The conference was hosted by Iowa State University Extension and Outreach and drew more than 1,100 people from across the country.
The NACAA recognized several individuals for their achievements in agriculture and extension work. Kenneth M. Quinn, former U.S. Ambassador to Vietnam and the Kingdom of Cambodia, received the Service to American Agriculture Award. The Hall of Fame Award was given to four individuals: Larry Howard from Nebraska, Lee Stivers from Pennsylvania, Paul Wigley from Georgia, and Janet Schmidt from Washington.
More than 60 members were honored with Distinguished Service Awards and another 60 members received Achievement Awards. These awards recognize excellence in the field of professional extension.
The conference also featured a number of workshops and sessions on a variety of topics related to agriculture and extension work. The goal of the conference was to provide attendees with the latest information and resources to help them better serve their communities.
The NACAA is a professional organization for county agricultural agents and other extension educators. The organization's mission is to promote excellence in extension work and to support the professional development of its members.
• The Service to American Agriculture Award is given to a U.S. citizen who has made a major contribution to American/world agriculture and is recognized by peers and the general public.
• The Hall of Fame Award recognizes an individual who has demonstrated commitment, dedication and leadership as an outstanding educator for their association involvement at both the state and national level, along with outstanding humanitarian service.
• The Distinguished Service Award recognizes members for excellence in their field of work as a professional. These individuals have more than 10 years of service, have conducted outstanding programs, and are held in high esteem by their fellow colleagues.
• The Achievement Award encourages and recognizes excellence in the field of professional extension for members with less than 10 years of service.
The NACAA annual conference is a major event in the agriculture community. It provides a forum for agricultural professionals to network, learn about the latest trends in agriculture, and celebrate the achievements of their colleagues.
