Iowa State University proudly celebrates the accomplishments of three outstanding students – Ian Johnson, Caroline Lang, and Emily Shatek – named recipients of the esteemed Wallace E. Barron All-University Senior Award. These individuals have demonstrated exemplary leadership, academic excellence, and unwavering commitment to their communities.

Ian Johnson, a native of Marysville, Ohio, distinguished himself through his dedication to the Department of Animal Science and his role as a peer mentor. Serving as president of the Alpha Gamma Rho fraternity, Ian fostered camaraderie and leadership among members while actively engaging in campus and community initiatives. His transition from a "me" to a "we" perspective reflects his profound commitment to serving others.

Caroline Lang's interdisciplinary approach to education and involvement epitomizes her Iowa State experience. With majors in global resource systems and psychology, Caroline's engagement in the Women in Science and Engineering program and study abroad experiences in Uganda have shaped her holistic understanding of global health and cultural sensitivity. Her passion for improving systems through psychological insights heralds a promising future in research and innovation.

Emily Shatek, hailing from Mason City, Iowa, exemplifies leadership and academic prowess through her dual majors in finance and agricultural business. From leadership roles in various campus organizations to her impactful internship experiences, Emily has demonstrated a remarkable ability to bring people together and apply classroom knowledge to real-world scenarios. Her diverse experiences, including studying abroad in the United Arab Emirates and pursuing an ag lending internship, have enriched her academic journey.

The Wallace E. Barron All-University Senior Award, presented annually by the Iowa State University Alumni Association, recognizes the exemplary achievements of graduating seniors. Named after Wallace E. "Red" Barron, this prestigious award honors individuals who embody integrity, leadership, and academic excellence.

As Iowa State University celebrates the accomplishments of Ian, Caroline, Emily, and their fellow recipients, it underscores its commitment to fostering leadership and excellence in education. These exceptional students serve as inspiring examples of the university's dedication to shaping future leaders and making a positive impact on society.
