Iowa Beef Collective Podcast Strengthens Industry Connections

Iowa Beef Collective Podcast Strengthens Industry Connections

By Andi Anderson

The Iowa Beef Center at Iowa State University has launched a new video podcast titled the Iowa Beef Collective, offering an innovative way to connect people throughout the beef industry.

Hosted by Patrick Wall, beef field specialist with ISU Extension and Outreach, the podcast aims to share knowledge, stories, and insights from across all segments of the beef supply chain.

Wall said the podcast focuses on inclusivity and understanding within the industry. “We’re in a time of unprecedented prices, but we’re also going to look at things from everyone’s perspective,” he explained. “When one segment of the industry is doing really well, others may face challenges. It’s important we all understand each other’s roles and find ways to make it better.”

Each session of the Iowa Beef Collective features guests from both Iowa and beyond, representing a wide range of topics — from Expected Progeny Differences and technology to livestock judging, beef packing, and feedlot management.

Episodes also address timely and personal themes like mental health, family communication, and generational transitions in farming.

All episodes are available on the Iowa Beef Collective YouTube channel, making it easier for producers to watch and learn at their convenience. “Of course we’ll bring you technology with ear tags and processing,” Wall said. “We’ll also cover some tougher topics that can be easier to learn from when listening rather than sitting across the table.”

The podcast is a collaboration between the Iowa Beef Center and the Iowa Beef Industry Council, with future updates planned from the Iowa Cattlemen’s Association.

By bringing together producers, educators, and industry experts, the Iowa Beef Collective strengthens communication and understanding across Iowa’s beef community.
