U.S. Custom Harvesters Successfully Meet in Person
Iowa Ag Connection - 02/24/2021

U.S. Custom Harvesters (USCHI) held the 37th annual convention for their members in person at the Iowa Events Center in Des Moines, Iowa.

For many this convention is a great time to catch up with colleagues and industry friends, but this time was extra special because it was many members' and vendors' first convention since the COVID-19 pandemic hit the United States in March 2020. As one of the first industry in-person events, safety precautions were thoroughly followed and attendance among members and vendors was very similar to last year making the event an enjoyable success for members.

"It's always great when we get here and catch up with friends we don't see that often," said Jon Orr, USCHI board member.

One highlight of the convention is the auction. This year's highly anticipated item was a Case IH Rotor that was turned into a smoker by YouTube stars, Welker Farms. Proceeds from the auction support the scholarship program and the organization. The annual convention closed out Saturday night with an awards banquet. Many members were recognized through scholarships, hall of fame inductions, and exchanging the presidential gavel.

Award recipients included:

- Taylor Cherney -- Scholarship Recipient, INSPRO Scholarship Recipient

- Isaiah Dunn -- Scholarship Recipient

- Samantha Schemper -- Scholarship Recipient

- Hunter Gallagher -- Scholarship Recipient

- Karl Brooks (MacDon Industries) -- USCHI Hall of Fame

- Raph Jolliffe -- 2021 Board President

- Beau Froese -- new member of the Board of Directors

2020 USCHI President Glen Jantzen spoke positively of the organization as he closed out his time on the board, "I can very much safely say that there's no way that my business would be where it is today without belonging to this organization."
