Mason Retires After Decades of Service in Corn Industry
Iowa Ag Connection - 03/14/2018

Iowa Corn Director of Grower Services Don Mason has retired after serving in this role for the last 17 years. Previously, Mason served on the Iowa Corn Growers Association Board of Directors beginning in 1997 and then transitioned to a staff position in May 2001.

"I've enjoyed working in the best industry there is, helping to represent the best interests of corn farmers -- with local, district and state leaders who are the strength of this organization," said Mason. In his position with Iowa Corn, Don managed a team of eight District Field Managers and directed the grassroots efforts of the organization. With his staff, he worked on membership and grower services, supported the Iowa Corn local organizations and district committees, and contributed to the ICGA policy development process. He also assisted with youth and student programming and coordinated with the National Corn Growers Association grassroots and membership staff.

"We thank Don for his service to the organization and the industry," said Iowa Corn CEO Craig Floss. "He has been a tremendous asset to Iowa Corn making numerous and significant contributions to building our membership and grassroots organization. He will be greatly missed."

Don graduated from Iowa State University with a degree in Public Service and Administration and later earned his MBA from ISU. He served for four years as an Agricultural Extension volunteer for the Peace Corps in Colombia. He farmed for 25 years in Sac County, raising corn, soybeans and hogs and was an adjunct professor of business at Iowa Central Community College and Western Iowa Tech Community College.

Don and his wife, Julia, have two adult children: daughter Jessica and son Justin.
